Next Fun Trip: Penitente Canyon
Home again and in Penitente with friends, Erik Weihenmayer, Jeff Evans, Chris Morris, Michael Brown, Charley Mace and Craig Blaney.

Craig supplied the coffee (www.summitcoffee.com) which is a critical part of any day.

Hair Cut Time 3
A clean shave and a hair cut!

Hair Cut Time 2
These guys are the best for a haircut and shave though they just about break your neck at the end when they crack your knuckles, rub your back and crack your neck. It's all part of the 200 rupee ($3) price.

Hair Cut Time
Back in, for the moment peaceful, Kathmandu and it's time to get rid of the long hair and beard from the trip to Everest.

Road Blocks
These road blocks are very real and our driver is in a hurry because he knows that now one passes after 7 pm and it's now 6:30.

On the Road Home
Can't tell if this is the result of running the road blocks or some other calamity but this bus is not taking anyone anywhere.

Everest North Side
Nice to be here without having to climb that... at least this year.

Tibetan Kids
All these kids out to greet us in a small village on the road to Everest.

Better Landing Zone
This time with armed guards around a heavily guarded dam.

* Note: Even this landing area was blocked off the next day by Maoists.

Landing in the Wrong Place
We set down next to a bunker and just after getting out Mingma, the pilot, waves us frantically back.

Eacape from Kathmandu
With all of the strikes 'banda' we have been stuck in Kathmandu. Now we are taking a helicopter over the road blocks to the border. Good views of the pre-monsoon countryside.
